Peru to meet with Singapore business partners

Peru will hold a series of meetings with its main business partners in Singapore on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT), Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) announced today.

A decree published today in El Peruano official gazette authorized Trade and Tourism Minister Martin Perez to travel to Singapore on July 21-23 in order to attend these meetings prior to the 17th APEC Economic Leaders' Summit in November this year.

“The APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade offers a great opportunity to promote the country's interests in matters related to trade in several areas to be discussed during the event,” reads the document.

Given the signing of a Free Trade Agreement with Singapore in May last year, Minister Perez will take the opportunity to hold talks with local business, tourism and investment groups on July 23rd.

Asia-Pacific trade ministers will meet in Singapore next week to discuss ways on how the region will confront numerous issues, including the financial and economic crisis, support to the multilateral trading system, regional economic integration and the strengthening of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
